As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, we are reminded that America has always been built by people willing to take risks, work hard, and invest in their futures—from entrepreneurs and small business owners, to families, workers, and military service members.
At Intuit, building for America’s builders is at the heart of what we do. Every tax season, we help millions of Americans navigate a complex tax system with confidence, access free and low-cost filing options, and claim the credits and deductions they’ve earned so they can keep more hard-earned money and build the life they’ve dreamed of.
When every dollar counts, Intuit is a partner helping millions file their taxes for free.
A modern tax system works best when the government and the private sector collaborate to expand access, improve compliance, and meet taxpayers where they are. Over the past 12 years, more than 140 million tax returns have been filed for free through Intuit TurboTax—more than all other tax software companies combined.
Today, more than one-third of US taxpayers with simple returns qualify to file for free using TurboTax. Even those who claim some credits and deductions such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), and student loan interest deduction can still file for free with TurboTax.1
This public-private model demonstrates what works: private sector innovation, combined with government oversight, can scale access, reduce friction, and deliver real value to taxpayers—without sacrificing choice or quality.
The tax code is complex. Intuit simplifies the tax filing process.
The tax code includes credits, deductions, and refunds designed to support working families, parents, and homeowners—but many risk missing out. Intuit is simplifying tax preparation by blending generative artificial intelligence with human intelligence (AI+HI), combining advanced automation with real expert insight to help taxpayers get their maximum refund faster and easier.
Intuit’s consumer platform seamlessly fuses Credit Karma and TurboTax, combining advanced automation with real human insights to benefit taxpayers. For example, customers can receive their federal tax refund up to five days early, or secure fast access to funds with Refund Advance (RAD), offering up to $4,000 instantly after the IRS accepts their return. They will then be able to use the Refund Assistant to maximize their money, eliminate debt, or build an emergency fund.
We’re also investing in TurboTax Stores across the country—local, in-person locations staffed with trained tax professionals who help taxpayers navigate complicated returns and find every deduction or credit they deserve.
Meanwhile, events like Community Tax Day at the Intuit Dome bring free tax preparation and trusted guidance directly to residents where they live, reinforcing our commitment to helping underserved communities file accurately, confidently, and at no cost.
Intuit’s tax experts are also helping tipped workers understand how the “No Tax on Tips” deduction passed in the Working Families Tax Cuts Act can reduce federal taxable income by up to $25,000 for people who earn tips at work.
These innovations and support are both convenient and help taxpayers keep more of their money, reflecting Intuit’s broader mission to support financial confidence and economic mobility for all Americans.
Helping America’s builders build their American dream.
When Americans can keep more of what they earn, they have greater freedom to pursue their passions and build their American Dream. For many, the American Dream means starting and building their own business. For others, it’s about owning a home and providing for a family. For members of the military, it’s rooted in service, sacrifice, and security. And for millions, the American Dream is about earning an honest living and keeping more of their hard-earned paycheck.
By helping Americans keep more of what they earn—whether through free filing, expert guidance, or smarter technology—Intuit helps create the financial confidence that makes the American Dream possible.
As America celebrates its 250th year, Intuit is proud to build alongside America’s builders—strengthening communities, supporting taxpayers, and advancing a tax system that works better for everyone. Intuit helps Americans build their American dream.
