Joining the Army Reserves. Earning six college degrees. Studying Greek, Hebrew, and Latin in seminary. I\u2019ve been blessed with a bundle of energy and many interests. Even with all of those experiences, I\u2019ve found my position at Intuit as a Multi-Domain Expert (MDE)\u2014supporting TurboTax and QuickBooks\u2014incredibly satisfying. I love individuals and small businesses with all kinds of tax and accounting challenges. But how did I arrive at Intuit? That\u2019s a story I\u2019m happy to share with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the early stages of my career, I worked for a software development company that specialized in tools for accountants. My work consulting CPAs sparked my interest in accounting, and eventually I moved into the accounting field myself and earned my enrolled agent credential. I went to work for a national firm you\u2019ve heard of, but eventually I joined Intuit\u2014and it\u2019s one of the best decisions I\u2019ve ever made. No other company or firm can match what Intuit offers tax and accounting experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5 big advantages Intuit has over other firms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b\u200bThere are many reasons experienced tax and accounting professionals should choose Intuit, but here\u2019s what elevates our career path above other options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose the work option that fits your stage in life. You can make Intuit your primary career or use it to supplement your income. We hire full time, seasonal, and SelectTime employees (working year round for a minimum of 30 hours a week). You\u2019ll have comprehensive health insurance, a 401(k) plan, and an opportunity to purchase Intuit stock at a discount. This is a really big deal. So many people are working contract gigs that don\u2019t offer insurance or tools for financial security. Right now, I love working full time, but when I\u2019m in semi-retirement, I might want to teach at a college, or spend more time at my church, or even get another degree. It\u2019s reassuring to know that whatever I choose to do, I can still work a limited schedule for Intuit and keep my benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>Work and learn alongside a large, diverse team of skilled and credentialed professionals who will support you in taking on new experiences at your own pace. We have a collaborative atmosphere\u2014which is something you will not find at most CPA firms. Everyone has their own area of expertise they bring to the table. For example, along with being a tax expert, I\u2019m a real estate broker. So what happens when a tax, accounting, or bookkeeping expert is stumped by a real estate question? They come to me. I love sharing my expertise, and my colleagues feel the same way about using their knowledge to help me. At other CPA firms, accountants look at each like their rivals. Not here! This is a team with hundreds of people you can count on to help you through challenging issues. We chat with each other online, via messaging, and face to face.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>We\u2019re committed to your professional growth through Intuit Academy certifications and specialized courses. You can learn new skills across multiple disciplines or create your own personalized career path. It\u2019s why our reputation in the tax, accounting, and bookkeeping community is stellar. While some employers in the industry emphasize efficiently filling out forms and pushing the right buttons, Intuit focuses on learning and growth so experts can answer the most complex tax questions and expand their expertise.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li>You can keep your own tax practice. Many CPA firms think you\u2019ll steal their clients or not go all in on their work if you have your own practice, so they won\u2019t hire you. One firm said, \u201cWe\u2019ll bring you on board if you sell your clients to us.\u201d I told them not a chance. At Intuit, we\u2019re much more accommodating of your career interests. If you want to keep your own practice (Like I did!) while putting in hours here, the company is 100% behind you. You can be a part of our team, get great benefits, and still be an entrepreneur.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\n<li>Most importantly to me, working remotely is an option. There was a point in my life when I needed to divide my time between work and keeping an eye on my aging parents. As my father suffered from Alzheimer\u2019s in the last years of his life, I was there with him.
