TurboTax/MacInTax For Business Streamlines Tax Preparation For Small Business Owners
Tax Year 1998 Offers Customized Tax Preparation for Corporations and Partnerships
San Diego , Calif. - January 06, 1999 - Designed exclusively to help America's small Corporations, S-Corporations and Partnerships tackle their taxes easily and accurately, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU) today announced the availability of TurboTax® for Business and MacInTax® for Business for tax year 1998. TurboTax pioneered tax preparation software for small business owners, and this year's TurboTax/MacInTax for Business offers improved navigation, streamlined data entry, customized business tax advice and business-specific features created for the 23 million small businesses in the United States (U.S. Small Business Administration)

"Every year, surveys tell us that the number-one task small business owners find most frustrating is preparing their annual company income taxes," said Larry Wolfe, senior vice president of the Intuit Tax Products Division. "TurboTax for Business is designed to eliminate needless work, allowing our users to get back to the business of running their business."

Business-Specific Expertise
TurboTax/MacInTax for Business for tax year 1998 offers expert tax advice to help small business owners prepare and file their tax returns quickly, easily and accurately. The popular Depreciation Expert provides easy-to-follow help for completing one of the most difficult areas of the return, helping users maximize their depreciation deduction. And with this year's new 1099/W-2 Reporter (Windows CD-ROM only), users can print Forms 1099-MISC and W-2 for employees and contractors. This valuable tool spares business owners from the task of searching for carbon paper forms and a typewriter every year.

Business-specific videos offer tax advice from top tax experts, providing valuable insight and money-saving guidance. In addition, users can measure their company's profitability and performance against others in their industry with the Industry-Specific Ratio Analysis.

New Smart Interview System Customized for Small Businesses
TurboTax/MacInTax for Business also includes the new Smart Interview System found in the personal versions of TurboTax for tax year 1998. Developed to eliminate needless work, the Smart Interview System includes an Interview Navigator, which is customized to the user's unique tax return and builds a customized topic list as the small business owner travels through the interview. This list is always visible on the left side of the screen, and there is added flexibility as users can simultaneously view the Interview Navigator, the form and the interview screen.

Small business owners can now prepare their taxes faster with streamlined data entry with context-sensitive FAQs (frequently asked questions) and tables. TurboTax's 15 years of tax focus and expertise offer FAQs throughout the interview, making it easier and faster to access help in just one click. This year's addition of tables substantially reduces tax preparation time by allowing users to quickly enter information, such as business expenses, in one table rather than on multiple screens.

Guaranteed Accuracy
Intuit guarantees that its TurboTax/MacInTax software calculations are accurate, having undergone in-depth testing by Intuit's tax experts. In the unlikely event that users are assessed an IRS or state penalty due to a calculation error in the software, Intuit will pay the customer the penalty plus any interest that may be charged.

TurboTax for Business and MacInTax for Business are available now and include approved IRS forms. Both programs are available at retail on CD-ROM; customers can call Intuit to receive diskettes. Suggested retail price is $89.95.
