Intuit India recognised as “Gold employer” in the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2020
Bangalore, India - December 10, 2020: Intuit India, a subsidiary of Intuit Inc. proud makers of TurboTax, QuickBooks and Mint has been recognised as one of 21 companies to be certified as a “Gold employer” in the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2020, founded by Stonewall, Pride Circle and Keshav Suri Foundation.
This is India’s first comprehensive benchmarking tool to measure progress on Lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender (LGBT) inclusion in the workplace.
This recognition attests to Intuit India’s equitable and inclusive culture that powers prosperity and empowers individuals to be the best versions of themselves. The company is a strong advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and supports them through its processes and world-class policies including medical insurance, counselling and gender affirmation surgery.
Speaking on the recognition, Jharna Thammaiah K, Director, Human Resources, Intuit India said, “We are honoured to be recognized by IWEI, as it is essential, to benchmark ourselves and expand our understanding of D&I as we build teams that are representative of the diverse world we live in and the customers we serve. At Intuit, Diversity isn’t something we do—it’s who we are. Our mission to power prosperity around the world is fueled by our values and supports our belief that every employee should be able to bring their whole self to work. We thrive on diverse voices to challenge and inform decisions. In fact, our Pride Network is dedicated to championing diversity, inclusion and building a respectful environment across the organisation as well as externally.”
Sumanta Das, Director, Product Development and sponsor of the Pride Network at Intuit India adds,“The inclusive mindset is deep-rooted in Intuit’s culture and I am proud to be leading the Pride efforts at Intuit India. This year, our Intuit Pride Network has made strong strides forward in building an inclusive Intuit India. One of our biggest learnings has been about the ways we can each show up and encourage people to be better allies. Our ‘Safe Spaces’ initiative, where employees can reach out to discuss/ seek counselling for issues specific to LGBT, went virtual immediately. We even extended our inclusive efforts to the families of our employees to promote open conversation on topics of gender and sexuality.”
“IWEI is a transformational tool for LGBT+ inclusion in India Inc. Not only does it provide a framework for corporate India to base their initiatives on but also enables friendly competition among companies to collectively raise the bar higher. The LGBT+ community also gets a definitive benchmark to assess an organization’s LGBT+ friendliness through their IWEI rating. Many congratulations to all the Top Employers and thank you for all the work you do to foster a culture of inclusion where everyone is encouraged to bring their authentic self to work. It is great to see so many companies signed up for the very first edition of IWEI, and we look forward to increasing participation year-over-year”, said Ramkrishna Sinha, Founder, Pride Circle
The IWEI Top Employers list recognizes 52 organizations and their pioneering efforts towards creating workplace equality, celebrating inclusion and building a people-first culture. The companies are selected based on criteria that are split across nine different areas of employment policy and practice, including Employee Resource Groups, allies and role models and procurement.
