What software am I eligible for as part of Intuit Education?
Intuit Education provides free trials of QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and ProConnect tax to eligible individuals and institutions.
What resources/support are available as part of Intuit Education?
You can request access to resources in our Education portal to create curriculum. Request access by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your name, email and institution name.
How long do educational licenses last?
The license won’t expire as long as an educator meets Intuit Education eligibility requirements. QuickBooks Desktop is supported for 3 years. For more info, you can refer to service discontinuation policy. Student Desktop is a 5-month trial. Student Online is a 1-year trial.
How does my school sign up for software?
You will need to register with Intuit Education. Select Register from the menu above and then choose the software you need. Complete the registration form and submit.
How long does it take to receive the software?
After completing registration for QuickBooks Desktop, you will receive an order confirmation email within 3 business days which includes your license information. QuickBooks Online Accountant is available immediately after registration.
How do I download, install and activate the software?
The confirmation email provides instructions to download and install QuickBooks. If you’re having a problem accessing the software go directly to Downloads & Updates. (Select Accountant version) Note: Education licenses are set up to install on multiple computers in the classroom. You should not install it on a student's personal computer. You can register/activate QuickBooks using the information from the email.
Why does the education version of QuickBooks Online look different than the students?
As an educator you have access to QuickBooks Online Accountant which has additional features. If you go to Dashboard on the left, you will see all the same features your students have.
How can I see my students work in QuickBooks Online?
QuickBooks Online Accountant allows you to connect and view your student's version of QuickBooks Online. Your students need to invite you as an accountant to their QBO. Go to invite an accountant.
Not all of my students have access to their own computer, what are my options?
QuickBooks Desktop: Educators can request QuickBooks Desktop lab-packs that can be installed on computers in your school's computer-lab or library.
QuickBooks Online and ProConnect Online: your students receive a cloud-based account that can be accessed on any computer or smartphone with an internet connection.
How can I sign up my high school students?
High school teachers are required to register for the appropriate software using the Educator form. After completing the registration, a Welcome email is sent with a form. List each student’s name on the form. Then email the completed form to email@example.com.
How do I sign up for software for my class?

How long does the student trial last?
QuickBooks Desktop Accountant Student Edition is a 5-month trial.
QuickBooks Online Plus is a 12-month trial.
Where do I get my license information?
When the registration is complete you will immediately receive the license information on-screen. You will also receive an email with your Desktop or Online license.
My license is going to expire in under 30 days. What can I do?

What if I am using a MAC computer for QuickBooks Desktop?
Intuit Education provides QuickBooks Desktop in the Windows version only.
Why does my educator version of QuickBooks Online look different than the students?
As an educator you have access to QuickBooks Online Accountant, which has additional feature. If you click on "Dashboard" on the left side of your screen you will see all the same features your students have.
My version of QuickBooks Online looks different today. How often does it update?
To make sure you have the latest and greatest features QuickBooks Online updates approximately every 6 weeks. You may experience slight changes to your software when new features are rolled out.
How can I see my students work in QuickBooks Online?
QuickBooks Online Accountant allows you to connect and view your student's version of QuickBooks Online by having them join as a "client" click here for information on how to do so.
How do I invite my teacher as my accountant in QuickBooks Online?
I'm starting a new class and already have a company in QuickBooks Online. How do I start over?
If you created your company in the last 60 days: please sign into your account and then copy qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany into your browser. You will be asked to confirm. Don't do this unless you're sure you want to start over!
My class ended, how do I add/remove students from my QuickBooks Online Accountant software?
From the Client list, click on the client name hyperlink
In the upper right hand corner click the drop down next to Edit Client and select Make Inactive
* This will remove the client/student from your client list.
Educators: QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) has free payroll.
QuickBooks Online Enhanced Payroll has a 30-day trial.
Does Intuit provide/support a silent deployment for IT purposes?
No, not at this time.
When I install QuickBooks in my lab, it states that it is only a 3 user license.
You are OK! The 3 just means that you can simulate a small business environment which would allow up to 3 users to access the same data file, saved to the same location at the same time.
What if I registered for the wrong QuickBooks product?
If you registered for the wrong product (i.e. QuickBooks Online but need Desktop), you can still register for the correct one. Students may register for both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online once in a 12-month period.
