(“Intuit”) and are registered or otherwise legally protected in the US and various jurisdictions around the world. This site does not constitute a license or legal advice and is subject to change without notice. Unauthorized use of any Intuit-owned Mark or any use of a mark that is confusingly similar to or likely to cause confusion with an Intuit-owned Mark would constitute infringement of Intuit's exclusive trademark rights. Use of Intuit-owned Marks must be granted through a written license agreement from Intuit (e.g., through one of its membership programs) or signed by an authorized director or vice president. Any promise, agreement, guidance, or other representation by any Intuit employee (other than by a formal license as described herein) is invalid and cannot be relied upon. The goodwill derived from any properly licensed use of an Intuit Mark inures to the benefit of Intuit. If you have questions about the laws surrounding the use of Intuit's Marks, or any other parties' marks, you should consult a qualified attorney. Marks not owned by Intuit Inc. referenced in an Intuit-owned site or product are the property of their respective holders.

    Permitted Use of Intuit Marks

Intuit’s Marks may be used in plain text in a descriptive phrase in order to refer to and properly name Intuit’s products as long as such use does not create a likelihood of consumer confusion or imply a relationship with Intuit where none exists.  However, use of the Intuit corporate logo or any Intuit-owned product logos, product trade dress, or designs is strictly not permitted without a written license from Intuit.

Examples where use of Intuit Marks may be appropriate without an express license:

    • Compatibility - e.g., your product or service is factually "for use with" or is "designed to work with" or "compatible with" an Intuit product
    • Informational or educational material - i.e., a book that helps users operate Intuit software - e.g., “Lisa’s Guide for TurboTax Premier 2025”

Any such reference to an Intuit Mark must:

    • Not create an impression that your company or product is endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with Intuit where no such relationship exists.
    • Be in plain text and not include Intuit’s logo.
    • Appear less prominently than your mark or product name.
    • Not use the colors associated with the respective Intuit logo - e.g., blue for the Intuit logo or green for the QuickBooks logos.
    • Include a proper trademark attribution as noted below.
    • Include a disclaimer making clear the material or product has not been approved by Intuit.

In certain instances, Intuit provides limited licenses to third parties to use specific Intuit-owned Marks in the context of formal membership programs or specific software distribution programs.  If you are a member in good standing of one of Intuit's membership programs, like the Intuit Developer Program or QuickBooks ProAdvisor® Program, or if you are a licensed distributor of Intuit's software under various specific reseller or affiliate sales programs conducted by Intuit, please see the respective program's website, membership materials, or distribution agreement for terms and conditions related to any use of Intuit-owned Marks.  Guidelines for licensed use of Intuit’s logo marks can be found on Intuit’s Brand Portal.

For information regarding permitted uses of Intuit-created materials, see Intuit’s Permissions page.

    Proper Use of Intuit Marks

Trademarks are adjectives, not nouns, and should be used to describe the generic nouns they modify to indicate source of the product, at least the first time the Mark is used.  For instance, the word "software" is the generic term that should follow “QuickBooks,” where “QuickBooks” describes the source of the software.  The generic noun "software"— which the Mark modifies — may be omitted in successive, multiple mentions of the Mark in a single section or page of text.  Suggested generic terms for some of Intuit’s commonly-referenced trademarks can be found below.

    Trademark Attribution and Symbols

Referential use of Intuit's Marks in advertising, marketing, or other product communication should include the proper trademark symbol at least the first time the Mark is referenced as well as, where possible, a proper attribution statement in the appropriate section of the material where the Mark appears.  A current list of the proper symbols for some of Intuit's most-frequently referenced Marks can be found below.

Any attribution should be worded generally as shown in the following examples:

    • If the material is being circulated in the US or Canada:
    • Intuit and QuickBooks are registered trademarks of Intuit Inc.
    • If the material is being circulated outside of the US or Canada:
    • Intuit and QuickBooks are trademarks of Intuit Inc., registered in the US and other countries.

Where an unregistered Mark is referenced, the reference to registration should be omitted:

    • Intuit Assist is a trademark of Intuit Inc.
