Tech Women @ Intuit, our global initiative to recruit, retain and advance technical women, plays a huge part in helping us recruit mid-career talent. Tech Women @ Intuit offers a full lineup of events and professional development resources to identify those further along in their career and expose them to Intuit’s culture.
At Intuit, over three-hundred of the smartest and most capable interns and co-ops join our company across North America every year. They serve in all of Intuit’s major business units and functions doing real work with real impact. Over the course of their time at Intuit, interns and co-ops are offered training to help them learn and grow, so that their first code to production can be achieved by their third day on the job. After completing a co-op or intern assignment, many (approximately 80 percent) are offered full-time positions with Intuit after graduation and choose to start their professional journey with us.
Intuit participated as a Co-creator of the Elevate Talent Stage at the 2019 Elevate Tech Festival. This conference brought together a dedicated tech talent audience comprising of those who are looking to enter the workforce and talent/HR professionals who are looking to grow and expand their team. David Thompson, Director of TurboTax Product Development, led an engaging panel discussion with App partners on the state of technology innovation in Canada. In addition, Melika Hope, QuickBooks Head of Product, moderated a fireside chat on the changing face of Canada’s technology workforce, and the importance of a diverse workforce, with Michele Romanow of Clearbanc.
TechCon is an internal Intuit event for technologists, run by technologists. It’s a day dedicated to giving our Intuit tech community time to learn, share, inspire, and become inspired together. The 2019 TechCon theme is Inspire. What inspires us? Great leaders? New ideas? A chance to explore the unknown? At Intuit, we’re inspired by the chance to power prosperity for our customers; for the small business owners following their dreams, for the taxpaying families striving and saving.
Global Engineering Days is a time for technologists, to foster autonomy, mastery and purpose in our engineering community. It's a chance to focus on an area of passion - a bug we are eager to fix, a feature we wanted to add, a flow that needs fixing, etc. It's an opportunity to use Intuit standards like Modern SaaS Platform for service development, UX Fabric for front end development and principles of Open Source and Contribution for all. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to hone in on our customer obsession, unleash our “inner engineers” and write Beautiful Code that's production ready. Global Engineering Days is an opportunity for engineers and data scientists to use their voice and feel empowered to lead, contribute and solve big customer problems.
At Intuit, we want to put our people in the best light. Throughout the year, we offer employees the chance to stand out from the crowd with complimentary professional headshots done on-site. We also facilitate workshops and one-on-one sessions to update employee Linkedin profiles with Intuit-themed banners that showcase our people/culture, catchy headlines and their new headshots. Profile Refresh sessions also assist employees to showcase their professional values (in writing) as they take the time to reflect on their talents and discover what challenges them in their professional and personal growth journeys. We want our employees to look and feel good about the way they present themselves - whether it is in person or online, so that they showcase the Intuit brand with pride.
