New research from an IDC Info Snapshot commissioned by Intuit Enterprise Suite, titled "Grow and Scale with AI-Powered ERP," reveals that AI is no longer a nice-to-have for medium-sized businesses.
Mid-market businesses face real operational complexity—managing multiple locations, entities, and product lines—but they lack the appetite or budget for heavyweight, legacy ERP projects that slow them down. The era of clunky, legacy ERP is over.
The IDC research clearly distinguishes the market's demand for AI-driven capabilities:
- AI is becoming a dealbreaker: 31.7% of organizations report that AI-driven capabilities are the most important attribute when selecting a new technology provider. Furthermore, 23% of organizations investing in ERP systems plan to replace their current application if AI is not included in the next release.
- The ROI is measurable: 51.8% of medium-sized businesses have witnessed true ROI and are scaling more confidently with AI.
- Decisions are faster and smarter: 37.3% of respondents reported that AI now supports better and faster decision-making.
- Operations are more agile: Organizations report a 30% improvement in organizational agility—the ability to think, understand, and move quickly.
While the research outlines the market's expectations, modern finance teams are already realizing these benefits through AI-native platforms like Intuit Enterprise Suite. By moving away from manual workflows, businesses are achieving the exact agility and decision-making speed highlighted in the data.
For example, Rhodes Companies—a family office managing a diverse portfolio—previously wrestled with nine siloed sets of books. By upgrading to Intuit Enterprise Suite, they consolidated their reporting into a single system, improving their operational agility and cutting their month-end close time by 50% (from 10 days down to just five).
Similarly, Humble House Foods, a growing producer of artisanal condiments, utilized Intuit Enterprise Suite to gain an instant "bird’s eye view" of their operations across manufacturing, wholesale, and retail. By consolidating their financial reporting, they unlocked real-time insights that empowered faster decision-making, all while achieving 50% cost savings compared to other platforms.
As businesses look to increase digital enablement, the data is clear: the switch is on for AI-powered ERP systems.
