Who can participate:

  • Schools: US-based high schools and middle schools
  • Organizations: Non-profits, afterschool programs, homeschool pods
  • Independent Learners: Individuals 18+

The Hour of Finance(™) Challenge (“Challenge or Game”)  is designed for educators and their students, and other youth organizations’ leaders and their students, as well as Independent Learners.  No personal finance expertise is required in order to participate in the Challenge.

Everyone is welcome to join in on the excitement, but only registered and qualified high schools (grades 9-12) and middle schools (grades 6-8) (“Participating Schools”) located in the United States are eligible to receive awards. Organizations that are not high schools or middle schools (i.e., after school programs, clubs, partner organizations, home school pods,), and Independent Learners 18+) may participate, but are not eligible to receive awards.

To be eligible for any award under this contest, an educator, from a Participating School, (“Participating Educator”) must register for the contest and must have a minimum of ten (10) distinct student players who successfully join and complete a full playthrough of the designated game during the contest period. Each Participating Educator’s eligibility shall be evaluated independently based on this requirement.

Intuit will not be collecting any personally identifiable information (PII) from students. Students will use a unique code (“Join Code”), provided by their educator, to enter the game play experience as an anonymous participant.

Laptops and desktop computers are strongly preferred. Chromebooks and tablets may also be used.

You will need a reliable internet connection and devices that meet the following specifications:

Operating System Version Supported Browsers

  • Safari 16.x
Windows 10
  • Chrome 109.x (or latest)
  • Microsoft Edge 109.x (or latest)

Absolutely! We highly encourage other educators and administrators to register. Each educator registered from the same school will receive their own unique Join Code. Multiple educators or administrators from the same school who register and participate will be considered towards challenge achievement tiers and awards.

The Challenge website will be available when the challenge opens on February 23, 2026. This website will be where all resources related to the game(s) and optional supplemental activities will be located. You will also be able to preview the game(s) on this website to know what to expect for your students.

All advance preparation is optional and not required to participate in the challenge.

During the Challenge window (February 23, 2026 through April 15, 2026), you may choose any day and time that works best for you to participate. In order to participate, you must register for the Challenge, after which you will immediately receive a Join Code. Provide this Join Code to your students when you are ready and provide them a link to the Student Experience Page. Then, allow your students to spend anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour on the game play and optionally, any supplemental activities you would like to include. Your students can play any or all of the games provided on the Student Experience page to count towards participation.

Expect to take a few minutes to set up your devices and navigate to the student experience. The game play takes approximately 25 minutes to complete one playthrough. Many students may find that multiple playthroughs are beneficial to their learning experience. Use the remaining time in your session to conduct the debrief discussion and complete the student exit survey.

You may register in advance of when you plan to have your students play the game. You will receive your Join Code via email as well for use when you are ready.

You can find the registration page here: http://intuit.com/houroffinance. If you have any questions or need additional support, you can reach out to the Intuit for Education support team at education@intuit.com.

You may manually add your school during registration by selecting “School not listed” and providing the required details. Intuit will review your submission to confirm eligibility for achievement tiers and awards.

Intuit does not require administrative approval for you and your students to participate in the Challenge, however you may want to check with your school’s policies. Also, please be sure to review the official rules to learn more.

Awards shall be distributed to Participating Schools and/or Participating Educators based on the highest Achievement Tier attained by that school.

Achievement Tiers shall be determined based on the number of eligible Participating Educators from a Participating School. There shall be three (3) achievement tiers (collectively, “Achievement Tier(s)”). There is no limitation on the number of schools that may qualify for an Achievement Tier, provided all eligibility requirements set forth herein are satisfied.

  • Velocity: Five (5) or more Participating Educators from a Participating School successfully complete a full playthrough of the game with their Players. Educators who achieve this tier will receive a digital badge, school banner, trophy, and $100 per participating educator for classroom supplies (up to a maximum of $1000).
  • Momentum: Three (3) to four (4) Participating Educators from a Participating School successfully complete a full playthrough of the game with their Players.
Educators who achieve this tier will receive a digital badge, school banner, and $50 per participating educator for classroom supplies.
  • Catalyst: At least two (2) Participating Educators from a Participating School successfully complete a full playthrough of the game with their Players. Educators who achieve this tier will receive a digital badge.

Participants from Organizations and Independent Learners are not eligible for awards.

See the Official Rules for complete details and award restrictions.

When multiple teachers from a single school register, they will receive unique Join Codes tied to their school registration. Intuit will award Achievement Tier prizes to schools that meet the criteria listed above.

Students will use the Student Experience to participate in the Challenge. This page is where students will enter their Join Code and play the game, as well as complete surveys. After completing the Challenge, students can download their participation certificate, all within the Student Experience. You can find the page on the Educator Resource Page.

Some firewalls or digital security policies may result in one or both games being blocked by your network. Students can try playing another game option within the challenge. If both games are not accessible, please contact your network administrator for assistance with the security policy.

When you registered, you would have received a Join Code for the Challenge. Check your email for a registration confirmation message sent from education@cr.intuit.com. You can also enter the email address used to register on the Challenge Website to retrieve your code. If you cannot find your Join Code, contact us at education@intuit.com to request your code.

The Game(s) is designed to be completed in 20-30 minutes. All other supplemental activities are completely optional.

Beginning on February 23rd, an Impact Tracker Dashboard will be available at https://www.intuit.com/solutions/education/hour-of-finance/challenge/impact-tracker. This will allow you to track the progress of your school and see how you are helping contribute to the nationwide movement towards financial literacy for all!

Although the Challenge is intended to be run as an in-class group activity, you can absolutely allocate another time during the Challenge term to take on the experience during school hours or after school!

If students complete the Game early, you may have them complete any supplemental activities available, or you may consider the Challenge complete and move on to other curriculum.

For students under 18 who want to participate in the Challenge, we recommend suggesting the activity to any of your educators as a classroom activity. If you are not able to do this, please have an adult parent or guardian register on your behalf and provide you a Join Code to participate.
