Intuit’s Partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic are grounded in our customer-first principles

At Intuit, our customers rely on us to help them make some of the most important financial decisions of their lives. These are high-stakes decisions where accuracy, compliance, privacy, and security are essential, and the liability of getting it wrong is significant.

That’s why customers consistently turn to human expertise when making financial decisions. In fact, consumers and businesses spend approximately seven times more on experts as they do on software alone to help them make confident decisions. Our partners in the accounting profession see this every day when business owners rely on their expertise to navigate complex financial decisions where accuracy and compliance matter most.

This insight has guided Intuit’s strategy for years. Seven years ago, we set out to build an AI-driven expert platform designed to deliver “done-for-you” experiences. Our aim is to be the assistant that helps our customers succeed, because when it comes to high-stakes financial decisions, customers demand confidence, and confidence comes from the combination of powerful technology and human expertise.

For more than 40 years, Intuit has built its platform around protecting customer data and delivering accurate, reliable financial insights. That commitment to trust, privacy, and security remains unchanged as we expand our AI capabilities through partnerships with leading technology providers like OpenAI and Anthropic.

Our partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic are guided by a clear set of principles.

1. Intuit owns the customer experience to ensure accuracy, compliance, and access to AI powered experts

Financial decisions demand a higher standard of accuracy and reliability than most other categories of technology. That’s why Intuit designs and controls the customer experience across our platform. We combine AI-powered automation with embedded access to trusted human experts, ensuring customers receive guidance that is accurate, compliant, and grounded in real financial expertise.

2. Intuit’s job #1 is privacy and security of customer data – even when we meet them where they are

As we expand our AI capabilities, we’re also meeting customers where they are, including integrations with platforms like ChatGPT and Claude. When customers choose to use Intuit capabilities in these AI assistants, their data stays protected within our systems and within these experiences.

Customer data is not shared with our partners to train their models, and our agreements explicitly prohibit the use of customer data for model training. This ensures customers can benefit from powerful new AI experiences while maintaining the privacy, security, and control they expect from Intuit.

3. Intuit does not share in the economics of these partnerships

Our partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic are focused on delivering better experiences for customers, and we do not share in the economics. To support building and coding faster, particularly for context-rich experiences, we have a multi-year agreement with our partners tied to LLM consumption.

Trust, privacy, and security remain foundational

Everything we build, whether on our platform or through partnerships, is grounded in Intuit’s long-standing commitment to trust, privacy, and security. Our AI-powered experiences operate within the same rigorous safeguards that have protected customer data for decades, helping ensure sensitive financial information remains secure.

At Intuit, customers don’t just buy code, they buy confidence. By combining AI, proprietary financial expertise, and AI powered human experts within a secure platform, we’re delivering done-for-you experiences so our customers have confidence in the moments that matter.
