Intuit for Education will host its first Canadian Financial Literacy Forum at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto

Intuit for Education is expanding to Canada, marking the program’s first international presence outside of the United States. Intuit for Education is a free financial education program, consisting of over 230 hours of customizable content, with a goal of helping 50 million students become financially literate, capable, and confident by 2030. The program includes immersive, hands-on tools and resources to help Canadian students build essential money management and entrepreneurship skills to help them better prepare for the future.

To kick off the expansion of the program, Intuit for Education will bring its Financial Literacy Forum event series to Toronto, inviting hundreds of local high school students and educators for a day of interactive learning by engaging with real-world financial and business simulations.

Intuit for Education is designed to address one of society’s most urgent and persistent challenges: the financial literacy gap that limits opportunities and widens inequality. The expansion comes at a critical time, as research indicates a significant demand for more practical financial education in Canada:

  • 92% of Canadians believe that financial literacy education is lacking in high schools.
  • Among Canadians between the ages of 18-24, over two-thirds (68%) said they feel “a lot of anxiety” about making the wrong financial decisions.

While many financial education programs rely on static lessons, Intuit for Education’s approach uniquely leverages Intuit’s trusted financial tools—TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp—to immerse students in real-world simulations that mirror everyday financial decisions. Students don’t just learn about finances, they practice it. Whether filing a mock tax return using TurboTax or managing a business in QuickBooks, students apply knowledge in dynamic, relevant ways.

The localized lessons being taught at the Financial Literacy Forum are now accessible in the Intuit for Education Platform, expanding its existing 230-plus-hour curriculum. Each lesson features scenarios, language, and videos tailored to local cultural nuances and legislation, including Canadian tax law, and aligns with the Canadian versions of the TurboTax and QuickBooks products.

“Financial literacy is more than just knowledge; it’s about having the capability and confidence to make financial decisions that change the trajectory of your life,” said Dave Zasada, global vice president of education and corporate responsibility at Intuit. “By bringing Intuit for Education to Canada, we are empowering students to practice making those financial decisions, before they even cross the graduation stage.”

Financial Literacy Forum Series

Intuit for Education’s Financial Literacy Forums transform traditional classroom learning into high-energy experiences, connecting students with tech-driven activities to understand financial concepts like taxes and credit. On April 2, the Toronto Financial Literacy Forum will take place at Scotiabank Arena. Students will hear from experts and participate in hands-on interactive breakout sessions such as the “The Tax Reveal” challenge where students decode how income, deductions, and credits influence a tax refund, using TurboTax software, and the “The Building Blocks of Business” simulation where students navigate QuickBooks Online to run a business. Additionally, “The Marketing Campaign Showdown” will give students the opportunity to act as business marketers and design a winning social media campaign to understand what makes a successful post and how platforms like Mailchimp help businesses generate customers.
