Log File Locations
The Bank Feeds logs record what happens during an online connection with your bank. If the connection fails, or you get an error, the logs can help pinpoint the failure.
Needed files: ~qbofx32 (encrypted), ~qbofxod (encrypted), and ConnLog from a user reporting the issue.
To obtain logs, first enable the online banking logs by doing this:
- Select Edit from the QuickBooks menu > Preferences.
- Click Checking on the left hand side.
- Click Company Preferences on the tabs for Checking.
- You should see a check box to enable logging > check it.
- Attempt the online banking setup or account update in the Bank Feeds window so you can refresh the logs.
Second, go here to look for logs: C:\Users\Select your desktop user here\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks\Log\. Then look for the folder that has the most recent modified date. In this folder you should find the ~qbofx32, ~qbofxod, and the ConnLog to attach to the support ticket.
NOTE: AppData is one of those folders that Windows hides. You can Google ‘how to show hidden folders’ to expose it.
- Go to product help
- Hold down option and shift key while you click on Product info
- Click on enable toggle
- Then update your account to create log files – For Direct Connect, perform a Bank Feed update. For Web Connect, import files.
- Then hold Option + Shift and click Product info and click Show Logs.
- Drag OFXLOG and CONNLOG to the desktop to attach to an email.
- Last resort if you cannot find logs: Go to the Macintosh Home > Library > Application Support > QuickBooks > Logs.
To assist Quicken Support with troubleshooting, Quicken keeps two separate log files of your online activity. You'll find information about your most recent online activity at the bottom of the files. The two primary log files are:
- Ofxlog - Contains more detailed information than CONNLOG, including the transactions and account information you download into Quicken.
- Cloud Sync - Aggregation data and Web and Mobile Companion Sync data.
- Connlog - Contains a history of the connections you make to servers.
Ofxlog
- Choose Help menu > Contact Support > Log Files, then click the OFX Log link.
- Click Save As to save the Ofxlog as a text file.
Cloud Sync
- Choose Help menu > Contact Support > Log Files, then click the Cloud Sync Log link.
- Click Save As to save the log as a text file.
Connlog
- Choose Help menu > Contact Support > Log Files, then click the Connection Log link.
- The file will open in Notepad. If you want to save a copy of the file, select File > Save As and select a name and location for the file.
In Quicken Mac, go to Help then select Show logs in finder.
- Drag the log files to the new folder on your desktop.
- After all the logs are saved, you can control-click and select Compress Folder. This will allow you to send all the logs to support at once.
