Entry-level processor roles focus on execution and attention to detail, while payroll tax analyst and specialist roles call for deeper knowledge of multistate compliance, federal filing requirements, and payroll systems such as ADP or Workday. And FPC or CPP is not required for every role, but it can support faster progression into senior roles.
Payroll tax work at Intuit supports a platform used by millions of customers, so the accuracy you bring to this role carries real impact. You will build specialized expertise in a defined area of tax compliance while mentoring newer processors and contributing to trend analysis and process documentation as you advance toward senior-level work.
Your focus will not be on routine reconciliation, but instead, judgment-based decisions that require human expertise. Intuit also supports professionals pursuing FPC and CPP certifications, recognizing the value these credentials represent.

Payroll tax jobs involve preparing and correcting tax filings, resolving notices from state and federal agencies, and making sure every paycheck reflects the appropriate withholding and tax obligations. The work spans everything from routine multistate filings to complex compliance issues that require research and judgment.
Most payroll tax jobs look for a background in accounting, finance, or direct payroll tax experience, along with strong attention to detail and comfort working in spreadsheets and payroll systems. Specific requirements vary by position and level.
Certification is not required for every payroll tax role at Intuit, but an FPC or CPP can support faster movement into senior roles.
Some of the skills we look for in payroll tax roles include an understanding of the payroll tax cycle and the ability to use critical thinking skills to solve complex issues throughout that cycle.
Individuals with less payroll tax experience often start in payroll tax processor roles. To start at the Associate level, no specific expertise or directly relevant experience is required, and you'll learn core products and processes on the job. These professionals often grow into analyst positions over time. Payroll tax analyst jobs typically call for significant payroll or tax compliance experience, since the role involves independently managing filings and resolving more complex agency notices.
CPP certification assistance may be available for eligible full-time employees. For additional details regarding current eligibility and reimbursement details, please speak with your recruiter or contact TalentAcquisition@intuit.com.
